The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs, Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis has an opening for a full-time, day Registered Nurse Supervisor.
This position provides clinical oversight, leadership, and operational supervision of nursing staff to ensure safe, high-quality resident care in compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Veterans Affairs (VA) regulations, state laws, and facility policies. In addition, this position supports staff performance, responds to clinical concerns, ensures documentation accuracy, and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Duties include but are not limited:
- Provides supervision to Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Human Services Technicians (HST/CNAs);
- Provides oversight of nursing/clinical services in consultation/collaboration with the Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON);
- Coordinates the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) to ensure comprehensive, resident-centered care that meets CMS requirements and professional nursing standards;
- Responsible for ensuring infection prevention and control practices and safe work standards are consistently implemented to protect residents, staff, and visitors;
- Conducts assessment and planning of resident care needs;
- Provides the delivery of skilled procedures according to the standards of practice and in accordance with current Federal, State, and Veterans Administration regulations, medication administration, and documentation; and
- Fosters an inclusive environment of positivity, cohesion, and well-being while developing interpersonal skills, prioritizing daily work, guiding immediate teams, providing consistent coaching and feedback to promote employee development., responds to clinical concerns, ensures documentation accuracy, and promotes a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements

Only applicants whose resumes clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for this position.
Current Minnesota Registered Nurse License.
Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse working in a skilled nursing facility AND either 1) one year of experience leading professional-level nursing staff (i.e. charge nurse, lead nurse, or officer of the day); OR 2) six (6) months of experience supervising professional-level nursing staff.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing facilities and state survey.
Excellent communication skills sufficient to convey information in formal, informal, group, and one-on-one capacities.
Ability to supervise, coordinate, and direct employees and to develop quality patient care plans.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to understand, interpret, and implement federal and state regulations and MDVA policies and procedures.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or ability to obtain certification within the probation period.
