About the Role:
Job Summary
The Ambulatory Clinic Registered Nurse delivers high-quality, patient-centered nursing care across a variety of outpatient settings. Utilizing the full nursing process-assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation-the RN provides safe, evidence-based clinical care while collaborating with providers, leadership, and interdisciplinary team members. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to support patients with acute needs, chronic conditions, and preventive health goals.
The RN promotes optimal patient outcomes by coordinating care, supporting nurse-sensitive quality indicators, ensuring continuity across the care continuum, and engaging patients and families in education and self-management. This position also plays a key role in maintaining patient safety, improving clinical processes, and supporting organizational quality initiatives.
Minimum Job Qualifications
- Licensure or other certifications: Active Georgia License Registered Nurse. Current BLS.
- Educational Requirements: Associates Degree
- Minimum Experience: Two (2) years experience as a RN via inpatient or outpatient setting or One (1) year experience Cardiology, ED or Critical Care. ANCC Ambulatory Nursing Certification.

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive physical and emotional assessments during in-person, phone and electronic encounters; complete initial and ongoing assessment and develop plans of care in collaboration with providers
- Triage walk-in, phone and electronic encounters; prioritize care based on urgency, addressing acute needs promptly and implementing physician orders or protocols within appropriate time frames
- Administer and document medications accurately; perform clinical procedures including but not limited to lab draws, IV starts, medication administration, diagnostic support and specialized clinical treatments within RN scope of practice
- Recognize, report and document significant changes in patient condition: act rapidly in acute or emergency situation following departmental procedures.
- Provide patient education, support chronic disease management and participate in complex care coordination
- Document all assessments, interventions and communications clearly and thoroughly in the EMR
- Serve as a clinical resource for MA, LPN and non-licensed staff; appropriately delegate and supervise tasks to ensure timely, accurate patient care
- Collaborate with providers, the Practice Manager and interdisciplinary team to support patient care and clinic operations
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities, mock codes, CPR requirements and organizational drills
- Promote a positive work environment through professional communication, teamwork and respect for patients, families, providers and staff
- Support quality and safety initiatives, including nurse-sensitive indicators and process improvement efforts
- Supports Transitional Care Management by conducting timely post-discharge phone calls, reconciling medications, coordinating hospital follow up appointments, patient and family education and identifying early signs of deterioration to prevent readmissions
- Receives critical labs or urgent testing results and immediately relays to the appropriate care team. Reviews documentation from care team to answer patient questions regarding treatment plans.
